Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool a grain at a temperature suitable for storage without reducing the moisture content of the dried grain, by applying a cooling air at a saturation temperature satisfying the grain temperature and the equilibrium relative humidity corresponding to the moisture content to a grain dried to a desired moisture content. CONSTITUTION:A grain is filled into a drying chamber 2, and an air supply and vent hole 13 is opened to operate a hot air generator 6. The grain is dried to a desired final moisture content, e.g. 14%. The hot air generator 6 is then stopped to close the air supply and vent hole 13. A refrigerating machine 7 is optionally operated by the control operation of a grain temperature detector 10 and a cool air temperature detector 11 to reduce the temperature of the grain to a temperature suitable for storage, e.g. 12-15 deg.C, finally. The cooling air is set at a saturation temperature satisfying the grain temperature of the dried grain and the equilibrium relative humidity 70% corresponding to the moisture content of 14% to prevent the reduction of the relative humidity around the dried grain in contact with the cooling air. The dried grain can be stored with the desired moisture content of 14% for a long term while preventing the weight reduction and deterioration of the freshness and taste thereof.
