Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain molds having a uniform hardness, by blowing casting sand with compressed air in a space formed by shutting openings located at the right and left sides of the cylindrical molding room with the pattern plate, and by hardening the casting sand at the surface of pattern plate by passing compressed air through the casting sand, so that any shadow part may be filled with casting sand. CONSTITUTION:A pair of pattern plate 16 is moved forward by action of squeeze cylinders 18 and 18a and openings at both ends of molding room 5 is shut, and thus a sealed space is formed. Switching valve 24 is opened and casting sand of casting sand feeder 23 is blown in the sealed space through casting sand inlet 6 of molding room 5. Then, switching valve 11 is opened and compressed air is supplied into molding room 5 through air vent 8. The casting sand contained in molding room 5 is moved to the surface side of pattern plate 16 and hardened instantaneously.
