Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a composition capable of being developed with water and giving an image part with superior ink receivability, wear resistance, etc. by utilizing an aqueous emulsion of self-photosensitive monomers one of which is a vinyl monomer having an azido group.
CONSTITUTION: A 3W30wt% vinyl monomer such as 2-methacryloyloxyethyl 4- azidobenzoate having an azido group and other vinyl monomer such as styrene or vinyl acetate are emulsion polymerized in an inert gas atmosphere in the presence of protective colloid, an emulsifier and a reaction initiator to obtain a photosensitive resin emulsion composition whose emulsion particles are not melt stuck to each other to prevent the formation of a continuous film even if applied to a support and dried. When this composition is applied to a support, dried at ordinary temp., and irradiated with ultraviolet rays through a negative film, the exposed part is hardened to manufacture a water insoluble negative type photosensitive material.
