Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which produces an expanded molded article having excellent impact properties and in which the retention of a blowing agent is good, by a method wherein a specified mixt. consisting of a continuous phase of a vinyl arom. hydrocarbon polymer and a dispersion phase of a conjugated diene polymer, is impregnated with a low-boiling hydrocarbon blowing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The particles of a resin compsn. consisting of a continuous phase of a vinyl arom. hydrocarbon polymer [e.g. a styrene (co)polymer] and a dispersion phase of 10W40wt% (based on the weight of the compsn.) of a nonorientable conjugated diene polymer (a 4W8C conjugated diolefin polymer, e.g. poly-1,3- butadiene) are impregnated with a low-boiling hydrocarbon blowing agent having a b.p. of about -30W100°C at normal pressures (e.g. propane).
