Abstract

PURPOSE: To use only one beam to make detection of two-direction force possible, by putting a two-direction stress concentration hole and two sets of gauges, which intersect each other in both sides of the hole center, on the beam of a shearing beam square load cell.
CONSTITUTION: Both end-held beams 16 and 18 having square sections are provided with discs 10, 12 and 14 which give horizontal force from an arbitrary direction. Beams 16 and 18 are provided with stress concentration holes 20 and 22 passing through, and gauges 24', 24" and gauges 26' and 26" for stress detection are caused to adhere to side faces respectively so that positions of these gauges may agree with the center of holes above. Similarly, intersecting gauges 32' and 32" and intersecting gauges 34' and 34" are caused to adhere to side faces so that positions of these gauges may agree with the center of holes 28 and 30. When force in the X- axis direction is applied, stress is concentrated to holes 28 and 30, and stress is detected by intersecting gauges 32' and 32". Similarly, stress is detected by gauges 24', 24", 26' and 26" for force of the Y direction. Stress is detected for force of the Z direction by the conventional method, and thus, force of an arbitrary direction dependent upon resultant force can be detected, and the unit can be cheap.
