Abstract

PURPOSE:To treat two-phase high tensile steel plates or the like requiring heat treatment of special cooling patterns by taking up the strip from finishing mills by coilers placed in proximity behind the mills in a high-temp. state and uncoiling the same by the adjacent payoff reels succeeding to the coilers. CONSTITUTION:The strip 1 from the final stand 2 of finishing mills is taken up in a high-temp. state on one or plural units of coilers 4' placed in proximity behind the stand 2. The thus taken-up coils are uncoiled by one or plural units of adjacent payoff reels 5 succeding thereto. The uncoiled strip 1 is fed to a cooling spray zone 3 at the heat treatment temp. meeting that material, that is, the temp. at which two phases of ferrite and a proper amount of austenite coexist. Here, intended heat treatment is carried out by controlling transfer speed and the amount of cooling water, and the strip is taken up to a coiler 4.
