Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain A type zeolite of fine spherical crystal suitable for use as a pigment, etc. by catalytically reacting an aqueous sodium silicate soln. and an aqueous sodium aluminate soln. in a specified molar ratio to form aluminosilicate gel and crystallize the gel by aging at a high temp.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous sodium silicate soln. and an aqueous sodium aluminate soln. are catalytically reacted at ≤60° in an SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 0.5W 1.5 by instantaneous mixing with a static mixer, a centrifugal pump or the like without causing back mixing to prepare uniform gel. This gel is then crystallized by aging at a temp. from the reaction temp. to 80°C and filtered to obtain the titled A type zeolite. The zeolite has 0.7W1.2 diffracted ray intensity ratio in its X-ray diffraction pattern, consisting of spherical fine particles having ≤1μ particle size with a uniform particle size distribution.
