Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the thickness of the circumferential wall of a cylindrical blank material accurately and surely by compressing the blank material between the rotary supporting members at both ends in the axial center direction rotating integrally with this and gradually increasig the space between the rotary holding members grasping the circumferential wall of the blank material.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a plate-worked cup-shaped blank material 3 is capped onto an internal ratary holding member 12, and the opening edge part at the bottom end of the blank material 3' is fitted to a lower rotary supporting member 9. Next, an upper rotary supporting member 29 is lowered and is pressed onto the top end face of the blank material 3. Outer rotary holding members 49, 48 are allowed to rollably contact with the upper and lower half parts of the outside circumference of the circumferential wall of the blank material 3. In this state, the blank material 3 is rotated integrally with the memebers 9, 29, and the member 29 is lowered to gradually decrease the space between both members, whereby the circumferential wall of the blank material is compressed in the axial center direction. Along with this, the members 48, 49 are retreated gradually in the direction parting from the member 12 in correspondence to the increased thickness owing to the compression. In this process, the member 29 lowers the member 49 held by a compression spring.
