Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently add additives of lower specific gravity to a molten Pb alloy of higher specific gravity by dipping a cylindrical container holding the additives in the molten alloy and by vertically moving a bottom plate having protrusions in the container as well as rotating it at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: Pipelike rotating shaft 4 is attached to bottomless cylindrical container 1 having a plurality of upper openings 2 and rectangular openings 3 at a lower portion of the side. Container 1 is provided with bottom plate 5 whose diameter is 1W3mm smaller than the inside diameter of container 1, and shaft 6 piercing through shaft 4 is connected to plate 5. Openings 7 are made in plate 5, and protrusions 8 each having a wedge-shaped section are crosswise attached to plate 5. Additives such as S, Se and Te are placed on plate 5, and container 1 is dipped in a molten Pb alloy while being rotated at a high speed. The molten alloy enters container 1 from openings 3 and contacts to the additives. The additives float owing to their lower specific gravity and stick to the inner wall of container 1. Plate 5 is then pulled up while being rotated, and by the rotation of the outer edge of plate 5 and protrusions 8 the stuck additives are scraped down and dissolved in the molten alloy. Thus, the additives are added in high yields.
