Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the life of a chain by connecting a cylinder part provided with a freely sliding plunger with a coil spring inside to an oil tank with an open air oil surface via nonreturn valve.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a cylinder part 4 provided with a freely sliding plunger 3 to push a chain 1 in a tensional direction with a coil spring 2 inside, an oil tank 6 with an open air surface connected to the cylinder part 4 via a nonreturn valve 5, and a high loss flow passage 7 connecting between the cylinder part 4 and the oil tank 6. A rod 8 is provided in the coil spring 2, while a shoe 9 is fitted at the top of the plunger 3 to be in contact with the chain 1. The coil spring 2 provided inside the plunger 3 gives a fixed tension lightly to the chain 1 without reference to the extension or contraction of the plunger 3. Consequently, the chain 1 is prevented from excessive addition of tension and the shortening of its life.
