Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the oscillatory movement over the entire part of a copying machine along with the movement in optical systems to be prevented with simple mechanism by providing balancers moving in the direction opposite from the moving direction of the optical systems.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrophotographic copier empolying an original platen stationary and optical system moving system, the 1st balancer 14 having a weight approximately the same as the 1st optical system 9 is fixed to a wire 5 between a drive pulley 1 and the 2nd moving pulley 4, and the 2nd balancer 18 having a weight approximately the same as that of the 2nd optical system 15 is fixed to the supporting shaft 4a of the 2nd moving pulley 4 and moves together with the 2nd moving pulley 4. If the 1st, 2nd optical systems 9, 15 and the 1st, 2nd balancers 14, 18 are synchronized and are moved respectively in the opposite directions, it turns out that the first balancer 14 reaches the resetting stop position which is the original position of the 1st optical system 9 when, for example, the 1st optical system 9 reaches the optical scanning end position, and the oscillatory movement of the entire part of the copying machine is prevented at this time.
