Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a cheap manganese sand, etc. in the process of forming manganese film on a filter material such as sand by first using potassium permanganate and manganese solfate and then using together potassium permanganate and manganese chloride.
CONSTITUTION: The filter material such as sand or zeolite is charged in a reactor, to which potassium permanganate and manganese sulfate are added and mixed to cause reaction. Thereafter, potassium permanganate and manganese chloride are added for reaction. The reacted product is dried at a relatively low temperature to provide manganese sand or manganese zeolite having stably deposited manganese film. In this manner, manganese film is cheaply formed on filter material.
