Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture nondirectional magnetic steel sheet excellent in iron loss and magnetostriction characteristics, by painting colloidal silica contg. specific quantity of phosphate and chromic anhydride on the surface of steel sheet which has been finish annealed, then by baking the coated steel sheet at high temp. CONSTITUTION:Coating fluid, made by the addition of 30-150cc one or more members among phosphates and 1.5-15g one or more members of chromic anhydride or chromate to 100cc of 30% aqueous soln. of colloidal silica, is painted on a steel sheet having been finish-annealed. Then the coating is baked at 600-900 deg.C temp., hereby tensile force effect is imparted to the steel sheet. This treatment allows to manufacture nondirectional magnetic steel sheet having remarkably improved magnetic characteristics and magnetostriction characteristics.
