Abstract

PURPOSE:To equalize three phases in the phase converting device which converts three phases to a single phase, by utilizing the exciting current of a transformer without using a balancing reactor or a balancing capacitor. CONSTITUTION:The transformer windings are connected in the method of Scott connection. The main transformer is wound around the leg I, and the T transformer is wound around the leg III. A winding 7 is provided around the leg II wherein the magnetic fluxes which are the vectorial sum of the fluxes from the leg I and leg III. One end (w) of the secondary winding of the main transformer is connected to one end (w) of the secondary winding of the T transformer. The winding 7 of the leg II is connected between the other ends (u) and (v) of both transformers. If the number of the turns of the winding 7 is twice that of the secondary windings of the main transformer and the T transformer, no cross current is generated in the connected secondary windings. If the number of turns of the winding 7 is changed from the twice that of the secondary windings, the cross current is generated in the connected secondary windings. If a load 1 is connected to the secondary winding 6 of the T transformer, and a tap is connected so that the cross current becomes 1/2 the load current, the three phase currents are equalized, thereby a three-phase two- phase single circuit converter can be obtained.
