Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the molten metal in a ladle which is formed to a bottomed cylindrical shape by a nonmagnetic metal material, and is lined with a refractory lining material on the sheath divided and insulated in the longitudinal direction to be electromagnetically induction heated by inserting said ladle into an induction coil. CONSTITUTION:A ladle is suspended in an induction coil 6 by using suspension hooks 4 and is inserted therein by way of a guide plate 16. Next, the electric power is supplied to the coil 6 and a ventilation fan 13 is operated. Since the coil 6 is controlled according to the amount of the molten metal 5 in the ladle, the molten metal 5 is maintained at a constant temperature. The ladle sheath 1 is formed by a nonmagnetic metal material such as stainless steel, is longitudinally divided and is insulated by an electrical insulating material 2; therefore, it does not constitute any closed circuit corresponding to a secondary circuit and does not rise up to a temperature at which strength decreases. In addition, the coil 6 is prevented of radiation heat from the ladle by a heat-resistant insulating part 8 and the sheath 1 is cooled by ventilation action. Further, iron cores 7 are used for the purpose of preventing overheating, so that magnetic flux is prevented from passing the bottom of the sheath 1.
