Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve lubrication of a pin sliding portion by inclining an axis of oiling ports so as to deviate one oiling port at the upper side of a pin boss toward the center side of a piston provided on the upper and lower portions of the pin boss with the oiling ports having a common axis. CONSTITUTION:A piston in which the distance between the center of a pin boss 32 and top surface of piston top land 31, i.e. compression height is reduced has reinforcing ribs 33 and lightening cavities 35 between the lower surface 34 of the top of piston and pin boss 32 to reduce weight and fuel consumption. Also, the piston has oiling ports 36, 37 respectively at the upper and lower sides of the pin boss 32. These oiling ports 36, 37 are formed along a common axis 38 inclining so as to deviate the upper oiling port 36 toward the center line of piston. This inclination is determined such that the oiling port 36 is opened to an end of the lightening cavity 35 and both oiling port 36, 37 are opened near the middle of a pin hole 39. Thus, satisfactory lubrication of pin sliding portion is ensured even if the compression height is reduced.
