Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate various damages by a chisel edge, degradations of rigidity of a tip end by thinning, or difficulties in manufacturing so as to make the cutting tool be opplicable to a superhard alloy by removing a blade from the rotation center of a cutting part. CONSTITUTION:A noncutting zone (gap part) 30 is provided at the tip end of the cutting part and in the rotation center of a drill of a solid type. The width (d) of the zone 30 may be normally 0.2-2.5mm.. In the zone 30, a core is prevented from being produced. The inner edges 30a, 32b of the cutting blade are brought onto the cutting surface of a machining material 34 substantially at the same time. The vibration of the drill occurring during the drilling operation can be effectively restricted. Further, the provision of the noncutting zone 30 in the rotation center of the drill enables a smooth cutting with a reduced thrust load.
