Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold an ingot such as bloom always at its rolling temperature and lower the temperature of the ingot coming out from a heating furnace, at the time of hot rolling the ingot, by disposing a plurality of induction heating coils on the ingot conveying path of the heating furnace and rolling mills. CONSTITUTION:After an ingot such as bloom is heated in a heating furnace 1, it is passed through a scale breaker 2 and is rolled by roughing mills 3 and finishing mills 4. In this case, there is a temperature decrease of about 200 deg.C since it goes out from the heating furnace 1 unitl it enters the finishing mills 4; therefore, the temperature of the ingot of the time when it comes out from the heating furnace 1 must be made correspondingly higher. If the waiting time of the ingot on a conveying device 5 becomes long on account of a trouble in the rolling mills etc., the temperature of the ingot drops down to about an unrollable degree and this necessitates returning the ingot again into the heating furnace 1. At this time, plural induction heating coils 6 are disposed on the conveying device 5 and the lowered temperature is raised by heating, whereby the above-mentioned defects may be made obsolete.
