Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve a performance of a lateral flow fan by a method wherein indoor air suction ports are arranged on at least two surfaces of the enclosure box which are oppositely faced against the lateral flow fan.
CONSTITUTION: Indoor air is drawn in by the lateral flow fan 18 through the filter 21 from the suction ports 13 arranged at the front upper surface and the top surface of the box 12, passed, as indicated by the arrows, from the rear part to the front part of the evaporator 16 arranged at the lower part of the box 12, then the cooled air is discharged out into the room from the discharge port 14 arranged at the front lower part of the box 12 through the air deflector plates 19. Then, it is possible to have a large suction angle of the lateral flow fan 18, a blowing volume of air and its static pressure are increased by about 30% as compared with that of a conventional system, a performance of the unit may be improved. The cooled air produced by the evaporator 16 is not contacted with a rear surface of the box 12, so that a thermal insulator for preventing the dew may be eliminated, resulting in obtaining a thin sized unit.
