Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce continuously charcoal, by a method wherein gas generated by the dry distillation of a raw material is burned, and the raw material is dried by using generated high-temperature gas.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel from a gas storage tank 10 is supplied to a burner 6 and burned to generate high-temperature gas within an inner tube 4. This gas is introduced through a heating pipe 22 into the interior of a drying storage tank 21 where a raw material such as rice hulls or bark is dried, said raw material being introduced through an introduction port 24 into the tank 21. The dried raw material is passed through a discharge port 25, a delivery pipe 26 and a raw material inlet 13, and is introduced into a passage between the inner tube 4 and the outer tube 5 of a dry distillation apparatus 1. Then the raw material is charred while the raw material is moved toward a charcoal-discharging port 14 by means of a screw blade 7 united with the inner tube 4. Then the charred material is mixed with a binder injected from a binder-injection pipe 27, and supplied through the discharging port 14 to a molding equipment 15 where the product is molded. Gas generated during the dry distillation is supplied through a venting pipe 8 and a purification device 9 to the tank 10 where the gas is stored.
