Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve cutting performance as a whole by a method wherein a bed is given structure wherein ribs are arranged in an angled form aslant to the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal side of the bed so as to increase the rigidness against the torsion around the axis Y of the bed. CONSTITUTION:Ribs 21-23 in angled form, arranged aslant to a bed, are fitted to the side (a) of the surface of the bed whereon a saddle moves slidably and to the side (b) of the part whereto a column is fitted. With this constitution, only the deformation within the faces of ribs takes place when the torsional torque round the axis Y caused by the column acts thereon, and thus high rigidness is attained for the bed.
