Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid the harmful corona discharge causing the dielectric breakdown of a gas-insulated transformer for high voltages by winding as a coil material enameled wire whose periphery is coated with film having self-weldability, and placing a thin leaf material between the layers. CONSTITUTION:A coil 1 comprises wound enameled copper wire whose periphery provided with an ordinary insulating film 2 is additionally coated with a bond film 5 having self-weldability, and a thin leaf material 3 of various plastics having excellent electric resistance as an insulator between the layers of the coil 1. There is no oozing out of excess resin between the films 5, turns, and layers and no generation of a void shut in varnish which is weak in insulation. This permits a compact transformer to avoid a harmful corona discharge causing dielectric breakdown even if a high voltage is generated.
