Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide amorphous magnetic material showing no changes with time in magnetic characteristics and having stable properties, by forming an alloy which is composed of Fe, Co, Ni, Zr in a specific ratio, and by replaceing a portion of Zr with other element.
CONSTITUTION: An amorphous alloy having a composition shown by the following formula: (FE1-x-yCOxNiy)70W98(Zr1-zMz)30W20, where 0≤x, 0≤y, 0<z<1. Said alloy is worked into amorphous ribbon by rapid cooling in Ar atmosphere using rolls. The material has excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and has a high Curie point, and its magnetostriction is selected suitably at need, hence it is an excellent material for the magnetic head of an audio device, a VTR device, and a computer etc., and for other electromagnetic transducers.
