Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size and facilitate adjustment of an ignition timing adjusting device, by setting adjusting mechanisms of delay angle and advance angle in a pressure chamber on one side of a diaphragm. CONSTITUTION:Pressure in a suction pipe of an internal combustion engine is introduced through a nipple 5 into a pressure chamber 8. A rod 9, engaged with an ignition timing adjusting mechanism of a distributor, is set to the center portion of a diaphragm 6 as a partition between the pressure chamber 8 and an air chamber 7. When pressure in the pressure chamber 8 is positive (in other words, larger than that in the air chamber 7), the rod 9 is shifted toward the distributor to give a delay angle characteristic to the ignition timing, while when the pressure chamber 8 is negative in pressure, the rod 9 is shifted contrary to the distributor to give an advance angle characteristic to the ignition timing. The said delay angle adjusting mechanism (composed of a delay angle spring guide 10, delay angle spring 23 and delay angle stroke SR) and the said advance angle adjusting mechanism (composed of a spring case 4, the first and second advance angle springs 20,15, advance angle spring guide 17 and advance angle stroke SA) are set in the pressure chamber 8.
