Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove air bubbles in a liquid chamber of an ink jet head by a method wherein ink is injected from the ink jet head directed upward prior to a beginning of printing. CONSTITUTION:Prior to a beginning of printing, an ink jet head 1 is pivoted by 90 deg. upwardly about a shaft 11 together with a head 10 and ink is injected therefrom. In this case, air bubbles in a liquid chamber 8 are collected to a nozzle portion of the head, therefore, the air bubbles are discharged to outside simultaneously with the injection of the ink. After the injection, the ink jet head 1 is returned and set to a predetermined printing position, then, the printing operation is begun. The ink injected together with the air bubbles is absorbed into a porous ink absorbing member 12 provided so as to oppose to a nozzle of the pivotal ink jet head 1 and is collected by a sucking device 13 to be recovered or to be discarded.
