Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly efficient brushless motor wherein the coil current can be smoothly changed by connecting the coils of two phases among three phases in parallel and connecting the other coil of one phase in series; and by sequentially switching the phases so that the phase that produces the miximum torque is always connected in series. CONSTITUTION:The artificial sine wave output as shown by the broken line is obtained by a rotor position sensor element 1. Said output is sliced so as to have a specified amplitude by an amplitude limiter 8, which is controlled by a DC potential that is obtained by converting the sensed signal of a speed sensor 6 by an F-V converter 7, thereby the trapezoidal wave as shown by a solid line is obtained. The output of the amplitude limiter 8 is applied to one end of a driving coil 3 via a driving transistor 2. In the coil of each phase in the Y connection, the currents of the u and w phases are combined and flow to the v phase in a section A; the current of the u phase flows to the v and w phases in a section B; and the currents u and v phases are combined and flow to the w phase in a section C. The waveform of the current of each phase is similar to the step form which corresponds to the distribution of the magnetic flux density, and the current can be changed smoothly.
