Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable iron based ore to be recovered and reclaimed from steel production sludge and to use as iron production material by a method wherein sludge is crushed to below a specified value and selected by high magnetic force.
CONSTITUTION: A steel production sludge discharged from converters or electric furnaces contains a considerable amount of metal iron. Such steel production sludge is crushed to sizes of 105μ or less, preferably to sizes of 44μ or less, then is selected by high magnetic force, preferably by high magnetic flux density at gradient of 100K Gauss 1cm or higher. This allows iron based ore to be recovered from sludge and to use it as raw material of iron production. Furthermore, the remaining slag is reused as raw material for high-quality cement.
