Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the reliability of a method of detection for the loosening of chains of a sludge raker by a method in which the loosening of chains is electrically detected by detecting the time of stopping the rotary operation of a subsidiary shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The endless chain 1 is geared with the driving sprocket 2 and three pairs of the subsidiary sprockets 3, 4, and 5. When starting the operation of a sludge raker, the subsidary sprocket 3 is turned by rotation of the endless chain 1 and then the gear 8 turns, by which the gear tooth 10 of the gear 8 orderly comes near or separates from the adjacent switch 9 which outputs a pulse signal. The signal is put in the rotation detection circuit 11 to detect the rise of pulse and then put in the next time-measuring circuit 12, where the time from rising to breaking of pulse is detected and only when the time exceeds a given time, a signal corresponding to the time is output. The signal is compared with the signal from the setting circuit 15 at the comparator 14 and then the alarm device 16 is operated, permitting the loosening of the endless chain 1 to be detected.
