Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain auxiliary driving force effectively, by converting water into steam by a means for recovering heat possessed by the exhaust gas of the marine engine, and driving a steam turbine and other various apparatus by feeding the steam via control valves.
CONSTITUTION: An economizer 1 for receiving thermal energy possessed by the exhaust gas consists of a pre-heating section 1A, auxiliary vaporizing section 1B, main vaporizing section 1C and superheating section 1D. Water in a feed water tank 7 is introduced into economizer 1 via a pump 8 and a superheater 3 and converted into steam in the economizer 1. The steam thus produced is used for driving the steam turbine 4. At the same time, a portion of the steam is supplied via an auxiliary steam separator 2A and a main steam separator 2B to an apparatus 6 using general service steam and drives the apparatus 6. In the system, there are further provided control valves 9A, 9B for supplying most of the steam to the turbine 4 in case of driving the turbine 4 mainly but supplying the steam to the apparatus 6 in the other case.
