Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the solid catalyst for hydrogenation reaction of carbon monoxide obtained through forming the amorphous metal of specific component and composition into foil or grain having the specified thickness and surface area.
CONSTITUTION: The amorphous metal takes at least one type of metal selected from Fe, Ni, Co as major metal, and contains at least one type element of P, B having about 15W35atom% based on the total amount of catalyst. The amorphous metal is processed into foil of ≤30μm in thickness and ≥ 0.4m2/g in surface area, or this is compressed into grain shape further. By using the catalyst, hydrogenation of carbon monoxide is made and ethylene can be produced with high yield.
