Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform stable tracking operation by extracting the rotation period component of tracking error detecting circuit T through a filter, by generating a signal of a large time constant in phase with and equal in level to the said component by a signal generating circuit, and by substituting the output of circuit T with the generated signal through a switch in occurrence of a dropout.
CONSTITUTION: A reproduced signal from input 14 is inputted to tracking error detecting circuit 1 and dropout detecting circuit 3 and an error signal from detecting circuit 1 enters driving circuit 2 to perform automatic tracking by output 15. The output of circuit 1, on the other hand, passes through switch 13 and filter 4 to extract a disk rotation period component. A signal of a sufficiently large time constant in phase with and equal in level to the component is inputted from gain amplifier 12 of signal generating circuit 5 to switch 12. A dropout, once generated, is detected by dropout detecting circuit 3, whose output turns off switch 13 to change switch 12 over to side (b), performing automatic tracking. Thus, the stable tracking is carried out.
