Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable uniform ribbonlike crystals of high quality to be stably mass- produced with the titled apparatus by taking a picture of a solid-liq. interfacial part with a TV camera and performing control on the basis of data obtd. by analyzing the picture.
CONSTITUTION: TV camera 11 is set at a position where a picture of a soild-liq. interfacial part of a ribbonlike crystal pulling device is taken. Picture analyzer 12 extracts left edge part 13 and right edge part 14 among the horizontal scanning lines of picture A of the interfacial part by sampling and it judges positional coordinates (a), (b) of both the deges from a brightness change of each picture element. Data processor 15 judges whether the temp. and temp. distribution are within allowable ranges or not on the basis of coordinates (a), (b). When the temp. and temp. distribution exceed the allowable ranges, processor 15 outputs instruction signals to motor speed control section 16 for the crystal pulling device and left and right side electric current control sections 17, 18 for die heaters.
