Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform single or both sides plating at will, by supporting a deflector roll movable in an apparatus described in the title comprising deflector rolls, coating rolls, and a plating-metal-supplying mechanism, so as to separate a coating roll at will from the surface of a hoop to be plated. CONSTITUTION:A steel hoop S the surface of which has been cleaned in a pretreating furnace 1 is led through seal rolls 2 to a plating chamber 3, where the hoop S passes a deflector roll 4 arranged in the plating chamber 3 and comes into contact with a coating roll 5, and is plated on the single surface. The roll 5 is rotated while a portion being dipped in a molten metal bath 6, another portion being in contact with the hoop S in an arc. Then the hoop S is led by a deflector roll 7, the bearing of which is movable horizontally by the operation of a moving means 8 for example by an air pressure. In plating of both surfaces, the roll 7 is set at the position shown by a solid line, and the hoop S is brought into contact with a coating roll 9 in an arc. In plating of single surface, the roll 7 is moved to the dotted line position, hence the hoop S is spread between the rolls 7, 10, and is separated from the roll 9.
