Abstract

PURPOSE:To adapt a lithium tantalate vibrator as the vibrator for temperature compensation of a quartz vibtator, by reducing the equivalent capacity of the lithium tantalate vibrator without change of its capacity ratio. CONSTITUTION:Electrode 8a and electrode 8b are arranged outside and inside the vibrating arm respectively on one main face of lithium tantalate vibrator (LT vibrator) 7, and electrode 8c is arranged on the other main face. Terminal 7Z connected to electrode 8c is connected to the earth line, and a signal is input to terminals 7X and 7Y connected to electrodes 8a and 8b to drive the LT vibrator. Consequently, driving power is reduced to the half in comparison with the case where exciting electrodes are provided in both faces, and the equivalent capacity becomes 1/4, but the capacity ratio is not changed. Meanwhile, in respect to the quartz vibrator, exciting electrodes are arranged on the main face and the side face respectively to enlarge the equivalent capacity without change of the top temperature. LT vibrator 7 and the quartz vibrator constituted in this manner are connected electrically in series to obtain a composite piezo-vibrator.
