Thereupon, the length L of the magnets 3, 4 is made shorter than the length L1 of the magnetic poles in the image forming area A-A and longer than the width L2 of the effective developing area B-B. Then, even if the developer at the end part of the magnet 3 protrudes like (m''), it becomes of the extent just reaching the image forming area A-A; therefore, the photographic fog and edge stains of the end parts of the images may be prevented.
