Abstract

PURPOSE: To brake a car at an ideal slip rate by obtaining the coefficient of friction between an indriven wheel and the surface of a road during on the basis of the change of the wheel speed when the undriven wheel is skid-controlled to keep a fixed slip rate for braking, and controlling a driven wheel on the basis of the coefficient of friction thereof.
CONSTITUTION: When a brake pedal is stepped on, an on-off signal is given to the actuator of an undriven wheel 1 by an indriven-wheel control part 2 for skid-controlling. Then, the change of angular acceleration is detected and output by a car- speed detecting part 3 on the basis of the wheel speed, while the braking torque by a braking-force detecting part 4 and the car weight by a car weight detecting part 5 are detected and output. On the basis of these outputs, the road-surface friction signal of the undriven wheel 1 is calculated and ouput by an arithmetic unit 6, and the peak value of the road-surface friction signal in a decelerating state is sampled by a holding unit 7. The signal thereof is input into an anti-skid control unit 8, and the oil pressure to brake a driven wheel is controlled to reduce the car speed while keeping an ideal slip rate.
