Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of NOx in exhaust gas without providing any special device outside the combustion device such as a bolier by completely stabilizing flames which become unstable due to the combustion in the reducing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: When the combustion is made in the main burners 1 and 1a under the condition of the presence of somewhat excessive fuel, the partial pressure of oxygen in the flames given by the main burners 1 and 1a and in the neighborhood of flames lowers and the generation of NOx is held down. Moreover, in auxiliary burners 2 and 2a arranged in the neighborhood of the main burners 1 and 1a, the combustion is made with F/A value of about 1.3W1.6. Next, so as to maintain the stability of these flames and to burn completely unburnt carbon, etc. left behind the above combustion, afterburners 3 are employed. The capacity of these afterburners 3 is set to be about 2/10W3/10 of the capacity of the main burmers 1 and 1a, and the combustion is made therein under the condition of the presence of the excessive air.
