Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a rare-earth magnet in its coercive force by quenching it after aging heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Powder of intermetallic compounds consisting of rare-earth and other metallic elements is compression molded, sintered and solution-treated, age- heat-treated next and then quenched. When the aging heat treatment is applied twice or more, the quenching may be carried out after the second aging heat treatment. For the method of quenching, for example, a method to quench into oil at 100-400 deg.C is suitable. By so doing, the coercive force of a rare-earth magnet can be increased more.
