Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer useful for a material for organic semiconductor, having a given adjusted electric conductance, by treating an acetylene polymer with an organic solvent solution of p-benzquinone derivative and making it dope.
CONSTITUTION: An acetylene polymer is treated with an organic solvent solution of a p-benzquinone derivative, preferably a derivative which has first reduction voltage (-E1/2) not more than -0.2V at 25°C measured in acetonitrile using LiClO4 as a supporting electrolyte and a saturated calomel electrode, more preferably with an organic solvent (e.g., benzone, etc.) solution of 2,3-dichloro-5,6- cicyano-p-benzquinone. After treatment, the acetylene polymer is removed from the solvent and dried in vacuum. Since doped acetylene polymer is unstable to oxygen, it is preferably handled in an inert gas.
