Abstract
PURPOSE: To attain smooth conveyance to a following wrapping process, by continuously feeding strips such as chewing gum pieces and stacking and holding each prscribed number of the the strips.
CONSTITUTION: A wrapping drum 20, which has almost the same construction as a rotary drum 12 and rotates at the same circumferential velocity as the rotary drum, is installed adjacently thereto. Chewing gum strips 10, which are continuously wrapped, are directly thrusted and conveyed one by one to the receiving recess 18 of the rotary drum 12. The gum strips 10 caught by the rotary drum are surely transferred to the position of a strip stacking and holding means 14 laid along the peripheral surface of the rotary drum 12. A pair of strip stacking and holding shafts 30, 30 are rotated in opposite directions at an equal speed corresponding to the circumferential velocity of the rotary drum 12 so that the chewing gum strips which are transferred while housed in the recess 18 of the rotary drum are guided into a stacking hole 32 along a spiral cam section 34. After a prescribed number of chewing gum strips are held by the stacking and holding means 14, the strips are conveyed in a predetermined direction by the action of a rotary body 16.
