Abstract

PURPOSE: To conduct electric discharge machining while keeping interelectrode voltage constant and enable to conduct high-precision machining by a method wherein the relative feed speed of an electrode and a work is controlled based on the integrated value of the error voltage which is the difference between a reference voltage and the interelectrode voltage, i.e. the voltage between a wire electrode and the work.
CONSTITUTION: The error voltage -Ee between the interelectrode voltage Eg detected at a comparator 46 and a reference voltage Eo is integrated by an integrator 56, to obtain a table feed speed signal F. Due to the integration action of the error voltage, the steady gain of the control system becomes infinite and the error voltage -Ee converges absolutely to zero. Therefore, even if the machining speed at the lower surface of the work 10 is reduced owing to the transfer to taper machining on a curved portion and the machining amount per unit time is reduced, the excess energy of a power source device 32 will not increase the width of the groove being machined.
