Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform effective mirror finishing by a method wherein a cutting-edge angle and a burnishing angle are provided at the end of the rake surface of the cutting edge of a diamond tip and the burnishing working is applied successively on the worked surface cut by the cutting-edge angle.
CONSTITUTION: A cutting-edge angle 15 is formed by the cross line of an end relief surface 13-1 and a rake surface 12 both located at the end of a diamond tip 10, while a burnishing surface 17 of very small width is formed in the part in which an end relief surface 13-2 crosses the surface 12, and further a burnishing angle 16 is formed by the cross line of the burnishing surface 17 and the rake surface 12. The worked surface cut by the cutting-edge angle 15 is smoothed by the burnishing angle 16 and the burnishing surface 17, thus the effective burnishing finish being performed.
