Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the maximum heating efficiency of the furnace, by selecting the position of the tip of a burner from the interrelationship between said position and distribution of flame radiation in the furnace such that the maximum flame radiation can be obtained at a required position in the furnace where the maximum flame radiation is to be obtained.
CONSTITUTION: In case of applying the method of this invention to a horizontal furnace having a cylindrical wall of a refractory material, fuel F is at first supplied to the burner 1 and then ejected into a combustion chamber 6 from the burner tip 2. Combusting air A, on the other hand, is supplied via a fan to an air register 3, and after the air flow is straightened, also ejected into the combustion chamber 6. Here, since arrangement is such that the burner 1 can be moved along its axis, the position of the burner tip 2 is selected appropriately by moving the burner 1 back and forth in response to a signal relating to the fuel flow rate or the air flow rate from the interrelationship between the position of the burner tip and distribution of flame radiation in the furnace, predetermined in relation with change of the fuel flow rate or air flow rate.
