Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable high density recording through the change-over of the azimuth at the recording and playback of head so that it is different between adjacent tracks, by using the track change-over signal produced every one turn of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When the head 6 is shifted sequentially at every one turn of tape 1 by the head sending mechanism 7 for the recording, video signal is recorded on the tape 1 as a number of tracks T1, T2... along the running direction of tape 1, i.e. lengthwise. At the reproduction, by similarly shifting the head 6, the video signal can sequentially be reproduced from the tracks T1, T2.... The recorded magnetic pattern on the tracks T1, T2... is inclined toward the breadthwise direction of tape 1, and the direction of inclination is inverse for the tracks T1, T3... of the odd number and T2, T4... of the even number each other.
