Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect the coil holding ring of a rotor of an electric rotary machine having a water cooling hollow conductor and to prevent stress corrosion cracking, etc., of the ring even if the cooling water leaks due to the damage of hollow conductor by a method wherein a shielding layer is interlaid between the coil end part and the holding ring. CONSTITUTION:Windings 4 consisted of a conductor formed in hollow shape to make to flow the cooling water are provided on a rotor 1, a body insulating layer 6 is provided on the outer circumference of the coil end part and a shielding layer 7 is provided between the insulating layer 6 and a holding ring 5. The shielding layer 7 is made of a nonmagnetic waterproof member, for example, a stainless steel of austenite series. Accordingly, even if the inner cooling water may leak out due to the damage of the windings 4, the holding ring 5 can be protected from being damped satisfactorily to elevate the reliability of the rotor.
