Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to realize electric power saving of a copying machine, by combining the heat source control timing of a heating fixing unit and the timing of an exposure lamp to supply heat to the fixing part efficiently. CONSTITUTION:Fixing roller 1 and pressure roller 2 are press-contacted to each other, and heat is supplied by internal heaters 3 and 4, and these rollers are rotated in directions opposite to each other to heat and fix toner 6 for passage of transfer paper 5 through them. Heaters 3 and 4 are controlled by a fixing temperature control unit, and the surface temperature of fixing roller 1 is detected by thermistor 7. Hereters 3 and 4 are lit at the rise time; and when fixing roller 1 becomes a fixed temperature, heaters 3 and 4 are turned off by the detection signal from thermistor 7. Though heater 3 is turned on and off repeatedly by the detection signal from thermistor 7 in the copy cycle, heater 4 is turned off at the exposure lamp lighting time and is turned off at the exposure lamp extinguishing time. Therefore, heat can be supplied to the fixing part effectively within a limited electric power, so that electric power saving of the copying machine can be realized.
