Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy for overhead power transmission having superior heat resistance and electrical conductivity by adding a specified small amount of Ti and Fe to Al or further adding one or more kinds of rare earth elements.
CONSTITUTION: To Al are added 0.01W0.5wt% Ti and 0.05W0.80wt% Fe or further added 0.002W5wt% one or more kinds of rare earth elements such as La, Ce and Y or misch metal followed by alloying. The resulting Al alloy is cast in a metal mold and hot rolled to a rough wire, which is then drawn to manufacture an Al alloy conductor for overhead power transmission having superior heat resistance without lowering the electrical conductivity.
