Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an ultra-thin polytetrafluoroethylene film having excellent electrical and mechanical properties and surface state, economically, by heating and softening a polytetrafluoroethylene film, and during or after the softening treatment, drawing the film at a sepcific high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A polytetrafluoroethylene film is softened by heating at 327W 450°C, pref. 340W400°C, and during or after the treatment, drawn at 150W400°C at a draw ratio of ≥1.1. When the drawing temperature is ≥250°C, the resulting film is clear and has improved properties.
