Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible resistance seam welding without removing chrome films by inserting a can barrel molding of the specified width of an overlap part between electrodes and performing welding by specifying the ratio of the width of the overlap part and the pressing force between the electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: A can barrel having an overlpa part 2 of 0.2W1.2mm width is molded from a blank. This can barrel molding 1 is inserted with its overlap part 2 positioned under, in the predetermined position of a longitudinally long electrode 6 and is fixed by a supporting jig 10. While the electrode surface of a turning electrode 11 is being pressed to the overlap part 2 by a pressing spring 17, it is turned. At this time, the pressing force between the electrodes 6 and 11 is set at 40W500kg and the ratio of the width L and pressing force W of the overlap part 2 is set in a range of 1/1,000≤L/W≤1/100. During this time, the current passes through the turning electrode 11 - overlap part 2 - longitudinally long electrode 6, whereby welding is accomplished. Thereby, the tin-free steel can barrel having the weld zone of sufficient strength may be obtained without causing splashing of molten iron.
