Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible to install a charge timing with a few pieces of charge (detecting) electrodes by fixing a phase of a charge voltage pulse applied to the charge electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Charge detecting electrodes (21, 22) and charge electrodes (41, 42) which possess passing holes of ink particles having equal pitches to arranging pitches of ink spray nozzles respectively and are opposed inserting an insulation plate between them, are installed at each head section of a plurality of heads pair by pair. A charge detecting signal of the charge detecting electrode 21 is observed by giving a charge searching pulse D0 to the charge electrode, thereby shifting the phase of an exciting voltage in an ink jet head 11 in order. The phase shift is stopped when the separation phase of the ink particles in head 11 agrees with the charge pulse of D0 to charge the ink particles. The separation timings of the ink particles in head 12 and head 13 are installed similarly by applying the charge pulse D1 and D2 respectively.
